Learn in your neighborhood then travel!
The Learning Local program offered by Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) allows you to attend class locally and then participate in a Cultural Hi-Ways tour to the destination you’re studying, the cost of which is included in the tuition price. Choosing this option you have the entire tour weekend to explore destinations like Boston, Montreal (Canada), New Orleans, Niagara Falls and Washington, DC.
What's included in the course?
— Fun and informative classroom sessions designed to introduce you to the city you’ll visit as you learn about its history, culture and attractions
— All costs associated with the class
— A Cultural Hi-Ways tour (round trip transportation included) to the destination you’re studying (Please visit the Cultural Hi-Ways website to see what’s included in your specific tour.)
How you'll learn. You’ll attend 2 or 3 all-day Sunday classes (a few courses might include a Saturday class) in your local area. Classes typically start at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Then, at a later date, you'll participate in a tour to the destination you studied.
How many credits will you earn? You’ll earn either 32, 36 or 40 hours of credit depending on the course you choose.
Where are courses held? Learning Local classes take place in Chicago, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
