Miami:
America's Magic City

When you first think of Miami thoughts of picture-perfect beaches and warm sunlight come to mind.  The city is certainly blessed with inviting beaches and sunshine galore but it’s so much more!  Miami is truly a “world” city: home to people from across the globe who help sustain its many multicultural neighborhoods and drive its amazing arts scene.

Hispanics, for example, have made a tremendous contribution to Miami’s development as a culturally diverse city.  More than a million of Greater Miami’s residents can claim Hispanic origin and their traditions, cultures and cuisine have helped make Miami a truly unique place.

In order to gain an appreciation of Miami’s special significance as much more than simply a visitor’s paradise, you’ll learn about the city’s complex history.  It’s a truly fascinating story that includes Native American wars, slavery, boom-bust economic cycles, civil rights and Miami’s development as an international city.

To expand upon what you’ll learn in the classroom, you’ll visit Miami’s lively Wynwood district to experience its colorful murals created by some of the world’s most famous street artists as well as Miami Beach’s world famous South Beach and its historic Art Deco District.

A visit to HistoryMiami Museum will help you gain an even clearer perspective of the city as it brings the stories of Miami’s communities, individuals, places and events to life.
