When you enroll in a Learning Across America class you acknowledge that you’ve read, understood and agreed to comply with the policies and terms set forth in the following important documents:
Student Policies
Classes
All our classes take place live with your participation as well as that of your teacher and fellow students. Classes require each student to take an active role in group discussions, activities, projects and the like. In short, your full attention and participation are required, whether it be in the classroom or out and about with your teacher.
Attendance
Since each Learning America course consists of a limited number of class sessions, Towson University requires you to attend — and actively participate in — each class from its start time to its end time. If you fail to do so, you will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion. Class attendance is carefully monitored by Towson University.
Educational certificate of completion
Students will have 3 weeks to complete their post-assignment and turn it into their teacher. Once you submit your post-assignment, you will receive your certificate of completion directly from Towson University within 10 days, assuming you have satisfactorily completed all course work. Feel free to turn your assignment in as soon as you complete it, as this will allow us to get your certificate to you sooner.
Students who require their certificate sooner than outlined above should request their final assignment in advance by contacting Learning Across America by email.
Cancellation, refunds and transfers
To review the cancellation, refund and transfer policies that apply to your course, please refer to the page on our website that describes your class.
Students who must cancel their course need to send an email to Learning Across America. The cancellation request must be sent directly by the student. Please make sure that the subject line of your email is Attention: Cancellation of Course.
Third-party payments
In some cases, payment for a course may be made by a third party (for example, a host family member) on behalf of a student. In such situations, the enrolled student remains responsible for complying with all Learning Across America policies, including cancellation procedures and participation requirements.
If a third-party payer later withdraws financial support, disputes a payment, initiates a chargeback, or otherwise creates uncertainty regarding financial responsibility for the course, Learning Across America reserves the right to suspend or cancel participation until payment matters are resolved to the reasonable satisfaction of Learning Across America.
When a payment is submitted on behalf of a student, the third-party payer is deemed to have authorized the transaction and acknowledged that the payment remains subject to the cancellation, refund, and participation policies applicable to the enrolled student’s course.
