Practicing content creation in iconic locations made everything more engaging and helped me improve my photography, video, and social media skills in a very practical way.
— From our students
I had the opportunity to take great content here! I also loved the experience as a whole. I’ve learnt so much about content and also seeing beautiful Miami.

Course Description & Schedule

(All times on this page reflect Eastern time)

  • Create Content & Grow Your Social Media is a hands-on course that blends online learning with an immersive weekend in Miami.

You’ll start with self-paced lessons on the essentials: building a personal brand, storytelling through photo and video, editing with tools like Lightroom, CapCut, and Canvas, and the ethics of content creation. A live Zoom session will give you space to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and connect with peers before the trip.

Then comes the really fun part: a weekend spent exploring Miami with your classmates. Together, we’ll shoot in neighborhoods and iconic sites, edit side by side, and share feedback in real time.

  • This course begins as self-paced, online and includes individual activities and assignments to be completed and shared with the instructor and your classmates.

Self-paced online sessions will be available starting this month.

  • 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Live Zoom class

  • 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. — In-person Miami touring experience

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — In-person Miami touring experience

  • 9:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. — In-person Miami touring experience

  • 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. — In-person Miami touring experience

Things to Know While in Miami

  • The highlights of the in-person experience include the following: South Beach, Wynwood Walls, the Design District, Little Havana, Bayside Marketplace and a sunset cruise on Biscayne Bay.

Please keep in mind that plans are subject to change in light of factors such as the weather, time constraints, road closures and events taking place in the city during the time of your visit.

  • Accommodations are not included in the tuition price. We have, however, secured a limited number of bunk beds at Hotel Rendale Miami Beach (formerly Generator Miami) for three nights — Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 16 to 18 — for an additional $184.  The price of accommodations includes all taxes and fees.

Each student staying at Hotel Rendale Miami Beach will have their own bed in a 4-bedded room. The room’s occupants may be of mixed gender, with both female and male au pairs.

(FYI … Hotel Rendale Miami Beach is our meeting spot each morning while you are in Miami.)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • All class sessions — whether online or in-person — are mandatory. Zoom classes take place live with your camera on and require each student to take an active role in group discussions, activities, projects, etc.  In other words, your full attention and participation are required. If you fail to do so, you will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.  Towson University carefully monitors class attendance.

We appreciate the fact that English is not the native language for most of our students.  Consequently our classes are designed around their needs and abilities.

  • Before enrolling in any course, please double-check the class times for both online Zoom and in-person sessions, as well as the time zone in which the class will be taught. Ensure that these times do not conflict with your work commitments to your host family. If there is a conflict, it's best to find another course.

  • Once you successfully complete this course, you’ll earn 72 hours of credit.

If you have additional questions regarding credit hours, please contact your au pair organization.

  • Students will have 3 weeks to complete their post-assignment and submit it to their teacher.

Once you submit your post-assignment, you will receive your certificate of completion directly from Towson University within 10 days, assuming you have satisfactorily completed all course work. Feel free to turn your assignment in as soon as you complete it, as this will allow us to get your certificate to you sooner.
